Malaysia - CelcomThis is a featured page

To use the daily broadband unlimited product one needs to purchase a Celcom Prepaid XPAX 3G SIM pack. The SIM is voice enabled as well allowing one to make voice calls in addition to accessing Celcom's data network. There are various voice prepaid packages to choose from although the user does not have to do this upon activation; a default package is pre-selected.

Foreigners must produce their passport in order to purchase a pre-paid SIM.

Details of the daily unlimited 3G data package is located here including details on how to subscribe:

Additionally, the prepaid menu can be accessed by dialling *118# - unlimited daily 3G can be activated via that menu, as well as many other service options.

Cost / Speed:

The cost of the daily access is RM6; this is a new permanent rate as of Jan-09. Note that the speed of the daily broadband package is limited to UMTS(3G) ie. 384kbps only.

Based on feedback from some local forums it is advisable to have as little prepaid credit in the SIM as possible as Celcom's billing system has been known to "act out of character" by continuously deducting credit from the SIM's prepaid balance although the user had subscribed to the daily unlimited package. The only recourse when this happens is to contact Celcom's customer service line as provided on their website.

iPhone 3G note:
As of Nov-08, Celcom's 3G infrastructure was not compatible with the iPhone 3G, and would result in frequent data drops (verified with 3 different iPhone 3G's w/ 3 different SIM's). Celcom does not have an EDGE infrastructure, so disabling 3G would result in a drop to GPRS speeds.

I went to kl last jul 2011 from singapore. Reading a lot of forums on best internet to use while using mobile phone for 1 week in malaysia,
Many suggest to use digi or celcom because of the price.
I end up by hotlink maxis and never regret any single moment because of:
-The celcom dealer at timesquare mall quote me price rm 88 to have prepaid
With internet, while all forums told me it will only cost me max rm 30
-The authorized Digi shop same thing quote me "rm 50" while the card itself
Clearly printed "rm 10"!!!!!!
-Went to another shop whereby more honest and quote me the price as per stated
on prepaid voucher. Total price only rm 28.8 (rm 8.8 for starter prepaid
Maxis hotlink card + rm 20 (for hotlink internet voucher 1.5gb for 7 days usage)
-I measure the internet speed is around 2-4mb, even faster than my m1 1mb speed in singapore,
Speedwise well done ... I am satisfied...
-Got some issue in the evening, called their customer svc abt 9pm, another well done
Very professional, well communication, good attitude, good technical knowledge,
Problem solved within 5 mins!!!!
-I try to maximize my data usage by using alot of google maps, video youtube, internet browse, itunes video
And on day 3 when i go back to singapore i still have 500mb unused data eventhough i use google map tracking
From kl to singapore.

All i can say well done, and kudos to Maxis Hotlink.
Its not easy to have satisfied customer from singapore as we have plenty of good technology n service in singapore,
But you did it... Hence i can send my quote for you "Malaysia Boleh..." :-)

Ps: i am using iphone 4, and the shop did shrink the sim card for me hence it was
Fit in for iphone 4
